A number of OECD Test Guidelines based on in vitro methods related to the endpoint “Eye Irritation” is currently available or proximate to validation/update.
A stepwise testing strategy is recommended for the assessment of the eye irritation/corrosion potential of cosmetic/household substances.
Our testing services include:
- Organotypic in vitro assays: Bovine Corneal Opacity & Permeability test (BCOP – OECD 437), Isolated Chicken Eye test (ICE – OECD 438), Isolated Rabbit Eye test (IRE), Hens Egg Test on the Chorio-Allantoic Membrane (HET-CAM), Reconstructed human Cornea-like Epithelium test (OECD 492).
- Cytotoxicity and cell function-based assays: Cytosensor Microphysiometer (CM), Fluorescein Leakage (FL – OECD 460), Neutral Red Release (NRR), Neutral Red uptake (NRU), Short Time Exposure (STE) test (OECD 491), Red Blood Cell test (RBC).
